The Red Hour Glass

Little Miss Black Widow with her wonderful sac of babies (upper left hand corner), has found herself a home on my front porch.  I'm not too sure how I feel about that.  Momma, I am fine with, she is one (relatively) little spider.  It's the thought of ALL those little ones scampering about that creeps me out.  Yuck.  My time is slipping through the hourglass.  I need to make a decision about the eggs:  do they stay or do they go?

monsoon season is on it's way

Today is  a regular hot, desert day.  Luckily, today, the storm clouds started building.  It always takes the edge off the heat.  And we have been having hundred degree days with no reprieve.    A beautiful end to a beautiful day!

Hang On!

I hope my little momma doesn't get blown away!
25 mph sustained winds.  Gusting to 30 mph.  Hang on little lady!
(Maybe next year the tree will be a little sturdier!)

..so it begins.

We have a family of Western Kingbirds nesting in our back yard.  We are eagerly awaiting the hatching of two beautiful speckled eggs.  I know it is cheesy, but I love the thought of this new beginning.  Sorry momma kingbird, your industrious home & it's contents fascinate me. The momma kingbird dislikes the fact that we take pictures and water the flowers in the back yard. True to life, no matter what is changing beneath you, life still goes on around you.
